  • Jean-Paul Petrie

    DVM

    Dr. Petrie is a clinical cardiologist seeing patients at the Katonah Bedford Veterinary Center. Prior to this current position, he was a staff cardiologist in the Department of Medicine at The Animal Medical Center in New York where he was employed for almost 11 years. Dr. Petrie completed his DVM degree at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada in 1994. Following veterinary school, he completed his internship at Michigan Veterinary Specialists, Southfield, Michigan. Prior to completing his residency he completed a post-doctoral fellowship in cardiac physiology and interventional cardiology at the Robarts Research Institute, University Hospital, London, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Petrie then traveled to New York to complete his residency in veterinary cardiology at The Animal Medical Center in 1996. He is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in Cardiology since 1999. Jean-Paul has a specific interest in echocardiography and feline cardiomyopathies. He continues to lecture both nationally and internationally. Dr. Petrie continues to be actively involved in clinical research projects and has published several articles and book chapters while continuing to be active in this aspect of his career.

  • Alexis Cistola

    Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine BS, DVM: University of Florida Internship: Animal Medical Center, NYC Residency: University of Georgia. Dr. Alexis Cistola earned both her Bachelor of Science and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degrees from the University of Florida as a part of the College's Early Admission Program. After graduation, she completed a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Cistola then returned to the south where she completed a residency in the field of Small Animal Internal Medicine at the University of Georgia in 2008. While she enjoys all aspect of small animal internal medicine, Dr. Cistola's research has focused on canine diabetes mellitus and the use of continuous glucose monitoring systems. She happily joined KBVC in 2008, and now lives in Manhattan with her husband and their dogs.

  • Philip J. Bergman

    DVM

    Dr. Bergman is the Director of Clinical Studies for VCA-Antech. He is the principal veterinary investigator for the recently fully licensed canine melanoma vaccine (Oncept). Dr. Bergman is an adjunct faculty member of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Prior to Dr. Bergman joining VCA-Antech, he served as the Chief Medical Officer for BrightHeart Veterinary Centers from July 2007 to August 2011; from 1999 - June 2007 he was the head of the Donaldson-Atwood Cancer Center at AMC. After finishing veterinary school from Colorado State in 1990, he was an intern at Kansas State (90-91) and returned to CSU for his medical oncology residency (91-94) and then completed a PhD Fellowship in human cancer biology from the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston (94-99). He was previously Chair of the ACVIM Board of Regents and President of the Veterinary Cancer Society. Dr. Bergman has been an veterinarian oncologist at Katonah Bedford since 2007. .

  • Megan Duffy

    Dr. Duffy graduated veterinary school from Colorado State University in 1998 where she went onto complete an internship at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital. Dr. Duffy has been with Katonah Bedford Veterinary Center since 2002.

  • James McKean

    DVM

    A 1998 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. McKean has been part of Katonah Bedford Veterinary Center since 2002. He enjoys the challenges of general medicine and surgery. His special interest lies in canine reproductive medicine, having received advanced training at the Ohio State University. In addition to canine reproductive services, Dr. McKean, a PennHIP certified member, can help evaluate a dog's hip integrity by performing PennHIP rediographs. PennHIP is widely considered to be the most accurate hip screening method available. Prior to his veterinary training, he received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in 1991. He was an elementary school Science teacher in Connecticut for two years prior to enrolling in veterinary school. In his free time, he spends time with his wife, two daughters, and three Labrador Retrievers, "Dutch", "Lily" and "Jack". Dr. McKean is an avid golfer and enjoys gardening and landscaping.

  • Mary Buelow

    Dr. Mary Buelow graduated from the University of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. Following graduation, she began her career as a general practitioner first in Cincinnati, Ohio for 2 years, followed by a busy general, emergency, and specialty practice in Yonkers, NY, where she began to focus on the field of dentistry. For three years, she worked closely with a local board-certified veterinary dentist and attended advanced dentistry courses and forums to broaden her knowledge in the field. In 2009, Dr. Buelow began an American College of Veterinary Dentistry approved veterinary dental and oral surgery residency at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, working under the direct supervision of Dr. Sandra Manfra Marretta, one of the founders and pioneers in the field of veterinary dentistry. Having completed her residency, Dr. Buelow has returned to practice dentistry in the New York City and Southern Connecticut regions. Dr. Buelow is looking forward to working with our hospital and providing advanced veterinary dentistry services for our clients' pets. Her practice is limited to dentistry and oral surgery, and she offers advanced procedures including oral surgery (jaw fracture repair and oral tumor management), advanced periodontal and endodontic therapy, prosthodontics, restorative dentistry, and orthodontics.

  • Jonathan Ball

    DVM

    Dr. Ball is a native of the Hudson Valley having grown up in neighboring Rockland County. He received his B.A. from Haverford College. He then attended and graduated from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007 after which he completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Bay Area Veterinary Specialist in San Leandro, CA. He then worked as an emergency doctor in Massachusetts before returning to Tufts for advanced training as an Emergency and Critical Care intern. His professional interests include trauma, fluid therapy and CPR. Dr. Ball has been caring for pets at Katonah Bedford Veterinary Center since 2010. In addition to his duties at KBVC, Dr. Ball also serves on the Veterinary Advisory Board for the Wolf Education and Research Center in Winchester, ID. When not at work Dr. Ball enjoys backpacking, camping and spending time with his wife, a fellow veterinarian and their pets.

  • Susan Tibbetts

    Dr. Tibbetts graduated from Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. Her special interests include exotic mammals. She has been caring for patients at KBVC since 2011.

  • Michele Roche

    DVM

    Dr. Michele Roche received her B.S. in Biology at Cornell University in 2006 and her veterinary degree from the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in 2010. After graduating, she completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists in Manhattan. In 2011, she became a member of the Katonah Bedford Veterinary Center's Emergency and Critical Care Department. Dr. Roche's passion is Emergency and Critical Care, and she has been caring for pets and their people in crisis at KBVC ever since. In her free time, Dr. Roche enjoys reading, belly dancing, traveling, and attempting to teach her much-loved rescue dog, Olive, some manners.

  • Nina Shoulberg

    DVM

    Dr. Shoulberg is a graduate of Cornell University Veterinary School. Her internship and residency training in dermatology were completed at The Animal Medical Center in New York. Dr. Shoulberg has broad interests that include the diagnosis and treatment of allergic inhalant dermatitis, endocrine-related dermatoses, and the treatment of acral lick dermatitis. A full complement of dermatologic services are available with Dr. Shoulberg here at Katonah Bedford Veterinary Center. Intradermal testing for allergic dermatoses, skin biopsy with dermatopathologic evaluation, and hypersensitization vaccination are readily performed.   • Joseph Palamara

    DVM

    Dr. Joseph Palamara is an associate veterinarian (practice limited to surgery) with Katonah Bedford Veterinary Center. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree with High Honors from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003, completing his clinical year at the University of Minnesota-St. Paul. In his senior year, he received the Hills Veterinary Scholarship for excellence in medicine and surgery. He went on to complete an internship in small animal internal medicine and surgery at The Animal Medical Center in New York City in 2004. He has volunteered time with the MTA and Orange County Sheriff's Department canine handlers alongside Paul McNamara, DVM, DACVS. Following his internship, Dr. Palamara spent four years as a staff emergency doctor for the Animal Emergency Clinic of the Hudson Valley. During that time, He also performed relief work for a dozen general veterinary practices and emergency facilities in Orange, Ulster, Dutchess and Putnam counties. Prior to joining the staff at Katonah Bedford Veterinary Center in 2012, Dr. Palamara was a staff emergency doctor with Animal Specialty Center and also completed his surgical residency there. On his off days, Dr. Palamara works with the Dutchess County SCPA spay/neuter program.

  • Lindsay Rigoli

    Dr. Lindsay Rigoli received her Associate's in Applied Science from SUNY Delhi, NY in 2003. She then took her Veterinary Technician licensing exam and continued working as a veterinary technician while completing her BA in Science from Mercy College, NY. She attended veterinary school at Atlantic Veterinary College, Prince Edward Island, Canada in 2007, graduating in 2011. Following graduation, Dr. Rigoli completed a rotating small animal internship at the Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Norwalk, CT. Dr. Rigoli is now a member of the emergency team at Katonah Bedford Veterinary Center. In her free time Dr. Rigoli enjoys hiking with her dog, Red, running, and watching football with her fianc퀌�, Daryll.

  • Ezra J. Steinberg

    Ezra J Steinberg, VMD, DACVS grew up in Goshen, NY. He completed his undergraduate education with a BA from Wesleyan University in Neuroscience and Behavior. He then graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. After completing a rotating internship in medicine and surgery at the Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus, NJ, he then returned to UPenn to complete a residency in small animal surgery. Dr. Steinberg has served as an instructor at the Penn Annual Conference and held a position teaching in the small animal surgery course to veterinary students at UPenn. He received his board certification in 2011 by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. He has lectured internationally on the subject of Tibial Tuberosity Advancement for treatment of cranial cruciate ligament rupture in dogs and is published in the Journal of Small Animal Practice and the Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association. His professional interests include minimally invasive surgery, wound management utilizing Vacuum Assisted Closure, and TPLO/TTA. He joined the team at KBVC in 2012. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the outdoors with his wife Jaime and his yellow lab Wesley.

  • Adam Porter

    Dr. Adam Porter graduated from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008 after obtaining a bachelor's degree in Wildlife Biology at the University of Delaware. Following graduation, he went on to a rotating small animal internship at the Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Norwalk, CT and was then accepted into an emergency and critical care residency at Tufts. Following completion of his residency, Dr. Porter began working at the Katonah-Bedford Veterinary Center in 2012, where he is establishing a 24 hour critical care service, including the ability to ventilate patients, monitor with 24 hour telemetry and provide high quality, intensive care.

  • Emily Harrison

    Dr. Emily Harrison, DVM, CVA Dr. Harrison received an AB in Biology from Brown University in 2003 and earned her veterinary degree from the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. She went on to receive basic and advanced veterinary acupuncture training at The Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida and veterinary chiropractic training at Options for Animals in Wellsville, Kansas. Dr. Harrison has been with Katonah Bedford Veterinary Center as a veterinary acupuncturist since April 2012. She is also a local large animal ambulatory practitioner, practicing both Western medicine and Chinese medicine on horses and farm animals in the area. In her free time, Dr. Harrison enjoys hiking and cross country skiing with her dog (an exuberant Australian Shepherd) and playing the oboe and English Horn with The Westchester Symphonic Winds.

  • Virginia Gill

    DVM

    Dr. Virginia Gill earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University, where she graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society. Following her graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Gill completed a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. Upon completion of her internship, Dr. Gill was awarded with the AMC's Intern of the Year award. After her internship, Dr. Gill remained at the Animal Medical Center to pursue a three-year residency in oncology, which she finished in 2008. She has been board certified in Oncology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine since 2008. Dr. Gill has published scientific articles in a variety of journals, including the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the journal of Veterinary Comparative Oncology, as well as book chapters on several oncology topics. Dr. Gill is a member of the Veterinary Cancer Society and the Veterinary Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group. After participating in research projects as a resident, Dr. Gill remains involved in collaborative research and clinical trials in her current practice. Dr. Gill is interested in all aspects of oncology, with the primary goal of having her patients live a normal life while being treated for cancer. Dr. Gill has been treating pets with cancer at Katonah Bedford since 2008. In her free time, she enjoys exploring New York City where she lives, as well as a variety of outdoor activities and travel. Dr. Gill has both an adorable dog and cat.

  • Meghan DeLucia

    Dr. Meghan DeLucia completed her Bachelors of Science from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD in 2003. She then obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. After obtaining her veterinary degree, she then completed a one-year rotating Small Animal Medicine and Surgery internship at VCA Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Norwalk, CT and VCA Shoreline Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Shelton, CT. After completion of her internship, Dr. DeLucia completed a three-year Internal Medicine Residency at the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan and became board certified in Internal Medicine in 2011. During her residency, Dr. DeLucia focused her research on kidney and bladder disease, although she truly enjoys all facets of Internal Medicine. After completing her residency, Dr. DeLucia moved to Las Vegas with her husband to practice as one of only two Internal Medicine specialists in Nevada at Las Vegas Veterinary Specialty Center. After two years at this practice, Dr. DeLucia and her husband decided to move back home to the East Coast after the birth of their first child. Dr. DeLucia is very excited to join Katonah Bedford Veterinary Center as of 2013. Dr. DeLucia now lives in western CT with her husband, daughter, two cats and dog.

    Dr. Laura Tracy grew up on Mt. Desert Island, Maine. She graduated from Boston College in 2008 with a degree in Biopsychology and Chemistry. She then received her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2012. Dr. Tracy completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA South Shore Animal Hospital in Weymouth, MA, prior to moving to NY and joining KBVC in 2013. In her free time, Dr. Tracy enjoys hiking and outdoor activities were her husband, Ben and their dog, Roggie.

    Dr. Joyce Wagner is medical director and an emergency doctor at Katonah Bedford Veterinary Center. Prior to joining KBVC she was a member of the Emergency and Critical Care team at Animal Specialty Center in Yonkers, NY. She received her undergraduate degree in physics from Middlebury College in Vermont and went on to obtain her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in Massachusetts. Dr. Wagner then completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at New York City Veterinary Specialists.

  • Joyce Wagner

    Dr. Joyce Wagner is medical director and an emergency doctor at Katonah Bedford Veterinary Center. Prior to joining KBVC she was a member of the Emergency and Critical Care team at Animal Specialty Center in Yonkers, NY. She received her undergraduate degree in physics from Middlebury College in Vermont and went on to obtain her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in Massachusetts. Dr. Wagner then completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at New York City Veterinary Specialists.

    Dr. Shumaker received her undergraduate degree in animal science from Cornell University and then went on to Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine (class of 2003). She then completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA South Shore Animal Hospital in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Prior to joining Katonah Bedford Veterinary Center, Dr. Shumaker practiced in Manhattan for 9 years and then for 1 year in Westchester county. In her free time, she spends time with her husband, 2 kids, and one goofy golden retriever.
